Yes, TRDELNIK! What a great Words with Friends word that would be but it's Czech for a strange pastry thing that is made and sold as a street treat.
Our guide (who was about 25-ish) says that they didn't exist when she was a child so it's a fairly new trend that we saw all over the place in both Cesky Krumlov and now in Prague. Strips of dough are wrapped around rollers which rotate over a low flame until the dough is brown and cooked.
Then it's removed from the roller and rolled in a cinnamon sugar mixture, broken in half and sold still warm. I also saw some that had Nutella smeared on the inside after it was removed. So, of course, I had to try it because it had SUGAR on it, right? It was just OK....kinda disappointing. I had wanted to love it. I think I'll stick to gelato.
