Oct 1, Prague

Oct. 1
We have been incredibly fortunate to have beautiful weather so far. Cool, clear days and a bit cold at night. Here in Prague, the temps have been in the mid 50's during the day so can be a bit chilly in the shade but comfortable with the right number of layers.
Went to New Town square today which is a main shopping area of Prague.

It's also the part of town where the opera house is located as well as the natural history museum. The opera house doesn't allow visitors and we didn't want to spend the time to go to the natural history museum so walked the street, visited a farmer's market
and headed over to a very large park on the highest point of Prague. The park is reached by funicular and there is an observation tower at the top that can be accessed by climbing 299 stairs. We DID NOT climb the stairs! There are beautiful gardens and fabulous views over the city without climbing stairs.
Spent a lot of time wandering about the gardens
Blowing giant bubbles in the park

then went for a late lunch at a cafe near the river.
After lunch we visited the St. Nicholas Church, possibly the gaudiest of churches I have seen anywhere!
The days activities ended with a really enjoyable concert by a string quartet in a palace near our hotel. Dinner was snacks in our room. WE ARE TIRED!!
