Last Day in Rome

Mon 10/7/2013
We wanted to go to the Doria Pamphilj Gallery....make that I wanted to go. I was there a few years ago with my friend, Nan, and somehow wanted to remember her by going back. I also had very much enjoyed it. It is an old palazzo and the family still lives in part of it. The art was acquired by the family beginning in the 16th century and is an extensive collection. You also see some of the old rooms of the palazzo with original furnishings. We enjoyed it.....though frustrating amount of art displayed in the old fashioned way with art covering every possible piece of wall. Some memorable pieces, though. Several Caravaggio's and a lot of Jan Breughel's that were worth seeing again. On the way home we stopped for a "last day in Rome" lunch. After a rest with our full stomachs, we went out for a walk in the neighborhood and got a couple pics.

Our street

A car parked on our street caught our eye. It's an old Fiat in excellent condition but the security system in it was unique.
And then it was time to pack up for our trip to Tivoli tomorrow.
